Follow one instrument through a full mix — the ensemble ear

A multi-instrument recording plays. You're assigned one instrument to follow. After listening, answer questions about what that instrument did — its melody, rhythm, dynamics. Then the app solos that instrument so you can check.

How it works

    Get your assignment
    App displays: 'Follow the bass guitar through this excerpt.'
  2. 2.
    Listen to the full mix
    30-60 second excerpt plays. Focus on the assigned instrument while hearing everything.
  3. 3.
    Report
    Answer: Did it play a melody or a repeated pattern? Did it change at any point? Was it higher or lower in register at the end? Did it sync with drums or another instrument?
  4. 4.
    Verify
    App solos the target instrument so you can check your observations. Then replays the full mix — can you hear it more clearly now?
