Higher or Lower

Train fine-grained pitch comparison — the building block of interval hearing

Two notes play in sequence. You identify whether the second is higher, lower, or the same. Starts with large differences (semitone+) and narrows to quarter-tones and finer as you improve.

How it works

  1. 1.
    Listen to two notes
    App plays note A for 1 second, brief silence, then note B for 1 second.
  2. 2.
    Identify relationship
    Tap Higher, Lower, or Same. Initially differences are large (whole tone+). As accuracy improves, differences narrow to semitone, then quarter-tone, then 10-cent increments.
  3. 3.
    Review
    App shows the actual interval in cents and replays both notes with visual pitch indicator.
