Melody Contour

Sing the shape, not the pitch

Hear a 4–6 note phrase, see its shape (rising, falling, arch, valley), then sing back the shape. Direction matters; exact pitch doesn't. This is how klapa beginners learn — follow the contour first, refine pitch later.

How it works

  1. 1.
    Hear the phrase
App plays a 4–6 note phrase with stepwise motion (±1–3 semitones).
  2. 2.
    Read the shape
App shows the contour as a line connecting dots — a visual cue for the direction of each step.
  3. 3.
    Sing the shape
Sing or hum the phrase. Sing in your range — the octave doesn't matter, only the direction of each step.
  4. 4.
    Compare contours
App derives your sung contour and compares it to the target. Score is the fraction of step directions that match.
