What Comes Next?

Hear a partial melody, predict the next note — trains musical expectation

A melody plays and stops mid-phrase. You sing what you think comes next. Then the app reveals the actual next note. This develops musical expectation — the ability to audiate forward, which is the hallmark of mature musical hearing.

How it works

  1. 1.
    Hear the partial melody
A 4-8 note phrase plays and stops at a point of musical tension (not on tonic).
  2. 2.
    Sing the next note
What does your ear expect? Sing it.
  3. 3.
    Hear the answer
App plays the actual continuation. No single 'correct' answer — app evaluates whether your prediction was musically plausible (within the key, reasonable voice-leading).
  4. 4.
    Complete the phrase
Now hear the full phrase and sing it back entirely.
