Melody Lift

Transcribe a simple melody by ear — the integration skill

A short melody plays (4-8 bars). You transcribe it — identifying both the pitches and the rhythm. Start with simple diatonic melodies in 4/4, progress to chromaticism and complex rhythms. This integrates all ear skills into one practice.

How it works

  1. 1.
    Listen without writing
    Melody plays twice. Just absorb.
  2. 2.
    Sing it from memory
Sing the melody back (app records for your reference).
  3. 3.
    Notate
Using the in-app notation input (simplified staff or piano roll), enter the notes and rhythms.
  4. 4.
    Compare
App plays your transcription alongside the original. Differences highlighted.
  5. 5.
    Correct and replay
Fix errors, listen again, repeat until accurate.
