Triad ID

Major, minor, diminished, or augmented — hear the quality

A triad plays. You identify its quality. Start with just major vs. minor, then add diminished and augmented. The key training insight: after identifying, SING the chord tones individually (root-3rd-5th) to build internal chord models.

How it works

  1. 1.
    Hear the chord
    A triad plays for 3 seconds. Root position initially; inversions added at developing level.
  2. 2.
    Identify quality
    Tap: Major, Minor, Diminished, or Augmented.
  3. 3.
    Arpeggiate vocally
    Sing root-3rd-5th of the chord you heard. App verifies each pitch. This is the accelerator — it forces you to hear inside the chord.
  4. 4.
    Hear correction
    App arpeggiates the chord so you hear each voice separately, then replays the block chord.
