Interval Chains

Identify sequences of intervals — builds contextual hearing

A short melody of 3-6 notes plays. You identify each interval in sequence. This bridges the gap between isolated interval training and real melodic hearing.

How it works

  1. 1.
    Hear the key
    Cadence establishes tonal center.
  2. 2.
    Hear the melody
A short melodic fragment plays (3 notes initially, up to 6).
  3. 3.
    Identify each interval
Tap the interval between notes 1-2, then 2-3, then 3-4, etc.
  4. 4.
    Sing the entire melody
After identifying, sing the whole fragment back.
