Stacked Intervals

Identify intervals when both notes sound simultaneously

Two notes play simultaneously. You identify the interval. This is harder than melodic intervals because the notes fuse. The key skill: mentally separating the two pitches and hearing each individually within the blend.

How it works

  1. 1.
    Hear the key
    Cadence establishes tonal center.
  2. 2.
    Hear two simultaneous notes
Both notes play together and sustain for 3 seconds.
  3. 3.
    Mentally separate
Try to hear each note individually. The app can optionally arpeggiate after your answer to help train this separation.
  4. 4.
    Identify and sing
Name the interval, then sing the lower note and upper note separately.
